The Alameda County Workforce Development Board

The Alameda County Workforce Development Board (ACWDB) is a 27-member employer-led organization responsible for the oversight and establishment of a local area Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program, outside the city of Oakland. 

WIOA services are available through Adult/Dislocated Worker and Youth/Young Adult service providers to meet the training and employment needs of local area job seekers to ensure that businesses have access to local talent.

Business services are available to help employers meet their goals around talent recruitment and business training needs.

MISSION | Provide employers and job seekers with universal access to tools, resources, and services that assist them with obtaining employment and business goals.

New Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification Requirements

On January 1, 2026, new requirements for any employer issuing a WARN Notice go into effect. This includes providing mandatory information on public services to all affected employees and indicating whether you intend to coordinate services with the Alameda County Workforce Development Board or another provider.

Tax Credit for Employers

Employers, did you know that you can earn up to $30,000 in tax credits this year for giving someone a chance at employment? People experiencing homelessness are sometimes housed within temporary shelters, living in temporary housing situations with relatives, in cars or trailers, and some are unhoused.
